General process clarifications
Currently, Contributing Member applications are being reviewed in preparation for the upcoming General Assembly cycle. General Member registration is being finalized and will open soon at https://www.ckba.build/. We will announce the opening here once it is ready.
Current Contributing Member cycle: applications close June 8, 2026 (AOE)
The current Contributing Member application cycle will close on June 8, 2026 (AOE). Applications received after this date will be reviewed in the next cycle.
Application window closed for the current Contributing Member cycle
The application window for the current Contributing Member cycle has closed as of June 8, 2026 (AOE). 13 applications were received during this cycle.
All applicants have been individually contacted to confirm receipt of their materials. The applications will be reviewed at the upcoming General Assembly, and the outcome will be posted once the GA has concluded.
Cycle 1 of the CKBA Contributing Member intake is now complete. Following the vote conducted by the Jun 22 General Assembly, 5 of 13 applicants have been approved as Contributing Members.
A few observations from this cycle to share with future applicants:
What the General Assembly weighed positively:
Shipped, verifiable work on CKB with sustained maintenance over time, rather than short-burst contribution
Visible presence on Nervos Talk and other public community channels
Substantive technical artifacts such as open-source repositories, protocol research, or infrastructure
Long-term advocacy combined with platform roles such as channel moderation or community admin
What was harder to evaluate positively:
Evidence concentrated on testnet-only or very recent activity, with a limited overall track record
Submitted claims that the GA could not independently corroborate from public sources
Limited recent activity or declining engagement in the months preceding application
Presence concentrated on a single platform (for example X-only) without footprint in CKB community channels
These are descriptive observations, not prescriptive criteria. The GA explicitly chose not to adopt a rigid scoring framework at this stage, and judgment and discussion remain the basis of admission decisions.
All 13 applicants have been emailed individually with the outcome. Approved members will receive onboarding details in a separate follow-up. Applicants not approved this cycle have received a letter with voter feedback synthesized from the GA, and we warmly encourage continued contribution. Several applicants were noted by GA members as candidates whose track record simply needs more time or more visible engagement, not a fundamental change in direction. Reapplication in a future cycle is welcomed.
In keeping with the GA decision on the public member directory, the online identities of contributing members will be published once we have collected each member’s preferences.
Timing of Cycle 2 has not yet been set. Watch this thread for updates.
Thanks to everyone who applied. Cycle 1 was the first time CKBA exercised this process end-to-end, and we have learned a great deal from it.
