Nervos CKB Testnet Mining Competition Has Ended! Thank Everyone Who Made Nervos Better!

The Nervos CKB Testnet Rylai Mining Competition which began on June 15th 2019 06:00 UTC has now come to an end. There had been a total of 5 stages. The hashrate during the competition reached to 20 TH/s with wide involvment from the community. We were able to find and made repair to bugs discoverable only at times of extreme hashrate fluctuation. Nervos CKB Mainnet Lina has launched. Let us together welcome Lina to the world. We couldn’t thank everyone enough for making Lina possible. Your parcitipation has made and will continue make Nervos better.

Mining competition reward information were made available for look-up through mineyourownbusiness.nervos.org. We kindly remind you again that testnet mining competition rewards will be distributed via genesis block to the corresponding addresses, please keep your corresponding private keys safe. The mainnet addresses and rewards recipients for all Nervos CKB testnet Rylai mining competition rewards has been announced. There are two looks to look up:

  1. Index into mainnet.toml via lock_args

  2. Mainnet addresses and rewards will listed on the Nervos CKB Mainnet Token List. Users could look up on the list directly. (Use the last three digits and Contrl + F to look up)

Reward Rules

  • The final result will count all the main chain block during the competition period. Our consensus design uses a two-step confirmation, thus block rewards will have several blocks’ delay. We will count all the main chain blocks’ reward, no need to consider the delay.

  • In CKB, the block reward contains four parts. To guarantee the fairness, only base reward will be calculated during the competition. In our consensus design, there are four parts of block reward: base reward, secondary rewards, commit rewards and proposal rewards. As secondary rewards are related to state occupation, and commit and proposal rewards are related to transaction, those rewards could be manipulated. Thus transactions, secondary rewards, commit rewards and proposal reward will not be counted in competition. ONLY base rewards will contribute to competition. For more detail you can check our consensus RFC.

  • Due to uncertainties during our testnet, the final result will be calculated according to the proportion of base rewards each address mined. For example, during the competition, if there are a total of 10M tokens as a base reward — Alice’s address receives 1M tokens and can aso receive 1/10 of the total mainnet token rewards.

  • CKB token rewards will be sent to the corresponding address in the genesis block when mainnet launches (no lockup). Addresses for the same private key might be different on testnet and on mainnet due to a difference in algorithm. Participants only need to hold on to their private key to be able to claim rewards, so please keep it safe. Once mainnet launches, you can import your private key to the CKB wallet and claim the reward. Please refer to How to Get CKB Mainnet Token using ckb-cli (for Testnet Mining competition winners) for details.

Verify the data

In order to facilitate the verification of the published reward data, we provide the download address of the backup data of previous nodes with data’s sha256 checksum and genesis block’s distribution data. The validation period is 60 days which is from Nov. 17th 2019 UTC to Jan. 16th 2020 UTC. Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions during this period. We will contact you as soon as possible.

steps:

  • Download ckb version used for testnet mining competition from Github Release

  • Download the backup data

  • Put the backup data to ckb version’s database

  • Check the backup data according to the rules of mining competition

  • Cross-check with genesis block’s distribution data

Things to Note

  • CKB mainnet token rewards will be sent to the corresponding mainnet address when mainnet launches. Please keep your privkey safe to get the reward.

  • Addresses for the same private key might be different on testnet and on mainnet due to difference in algorithm. Participants only need to hold on to their private key to be able to claim rewards.

  • Nervos CKB Testnet Mining Competition has ended now. Thanks for your attention.

  • Participation in this event means that you have read and understood the competition terms.
