I agree with you Jan, yes we don’t want a cathedral and i realize this is a diverse point of view but I think there needs to be some temperance here. though we want this to be a bazaar and I believe that it will be. We also don’t want to just throw money and see where it sticks. Telmo and Albert have already received a proposal to the sum of $8000 USD they created a talk show that had limited episodes and a very modest viewership and then was discarded? they never returned any of the funds they were granted. And now were going to fund them again for a new project for $48000 USD to me this is really setting the wrong precedence and if this is the message were sending to be frank were going to attract all the locust in the ecosystem and find ourselves a dry husk not a bazaar
That would be awesome and is exactly what we want to see!
I’m not sure what we want here? The completely dead community ecosystem which we currently have, or 10 proposals a month where we have to work as a community to weed out the 8 scams/worthless projects.
We still get 2 more worthwhile projects that might add some value to CKB than through the current approach of blanket negativity to nearly everything that comes our way.
And you do realize that there is more CKB available for this DAO when we spend it all?
There was over 6 Billion CKB distributed to the Ecosystem and Foundation Funds from the Genesis block and we’re worried about throwing around 10 million here or there to "see where it sticks.
I’d love to see the faces of some people here if we actually got to see the accounting of where this CKB had gone over the years.
And that’s not even a criticism against the Foundation, everything is a risk and a gamble, but I bet there’s been lots of CKB thrown around just hoping it sticks.
And then there’s the Secondary Issuance, which I get the feeling is closer to being needed and activated, that’s about 8 times the amount we have in the DAO every year.
But yeah, let’s just keep this mindset of holding on to our little pile of 200 million CKB or whatever it is in case we’ll need it for a rainy day. (It’s raining)
As far as Telmo’s other funding, yeah, he needs to explain the situation there.
And @Mb2305 has some really good questions, Id also like to know what the plan is for marketing in particular.
Hello @NightLantern,
Just to address the talk show issue. The talk show indeed had few episodes, and it could have had only a few more because all the people invited to participate kept declining, for one reason or another, and believe me, many were invited. With that in mind, I had three options: change the focus of the show, which was attempted (still declined), do something on my own, me talking with Albert or doing reviews, which was tried but didn’t gain traction, or put the show on hold until a time when it made more sense in terms of the ecosystem. You may not have noticed, but I continued working in the background, collaborated with utxoglobal, utxostack, created several other projects where I energized the network with the help of artists like bubble machine, created a token minter—if you really think I still need justification, being one of the most active members this network has seen in non-technical promotion, fine, I understand, but I believe it’s just misinformation and not updated information. I have nothing to hide, the only thing I didn’t do regarding the talk show proposal was show invoices because it seemed ridiculous, simply because we had a DAO funding groups of anonymous individuals, and I, who was the face, was being questioned by people who don’t show theirs. That didn’t seem legitimate to me. However, as you can see, I’m still here, and I’ll keep going. Money isn’t what drives SiTa, it’s just a tool for a faster outcome.
I think our indifferences come down to some different fundamental idealism about what is the correct approach for Nervos. In my opinion, Quality is much better then quantity. Nervos does not cut corners like the majority of rift raft composed of the crypto world. Its their game to rush and produce all this flashy hot air that essentially lacks real substance and when the dust settles nothing but crickets. In fact i would argue this narrative of the need to rush in order for success is a huge misconception. Lets not forget who we are, We are the tortoise we need to know our strengths and stop trying to be the hare like these other chains. And finally just because we have more CKB or that we have spent more CKB in the past does not justify the need to be irresponsible. CKB is valuable and we should treat it with the care and value it deserves. every time we spend CKB on proposals it’s being sent to fund projects and thereby sold which lowers the value for all our precious holders. I would personally rather funnel our funds to people like phroi, tea, cipher etc… who have proved how effective they are… even if that means paying people to learn under them or more developers to support them. Or if we insist on funding everything under the sun i should hope we at least expect to see some history of success and if not that then a low cost trial run should be by no means out of the question
Hello @Mb2305 and thank you for your questions here I’ll try to address them the best way possible.
Who will you market to? Not high-level details, who have you engaged with directly who might be early adopters, validating the need?
The Nervos network has always had a strong NFT component, dating back to the days of kollect. We had many active artists and projects that could still be involved but have since left for greener pastures. However, some stayed and continued creating, such as Bubble Machine, We Step Legacy, 57U, Toxic Terrier, Dondara, Mustard Phantom, and M4ndr0. They all faced the same challenge: technical barriers and the lack of autonomous, easy, and intuitive tools to create their artwork on the blockchain.
Have you had anyone use this in beta form? User testing to validate functionality?
Besides the team, no. However, I have around 10 community members focused on NFT art who are eagerly waiting for the tool to be released for testing purposes.
Have you done any competitor analysis? Why would people choose your platform over others?
There is no competition on the Nervos network. The Dobby platform offers a fragmented and non-functional experience with the Dob Creation Assistant. Dobhub provides curated collections that require centralized approval, and while the Imagination Marketplace is, in my opinion, the best platform, it lacks intuitivity. Spore Studio is a unique tool for creating spores/dobs, on-chain or off-chain for cost efficiency, and also enables the creation and launch of collections, all without centralized control.
Have you allocated any budget for marketing and promotion? How will you promote your product? What channels? Who will do it, etc.?
Honestly, marketing is a crucial part of the process, and building hype is the first step. We’ve seen in the past how buzz and hype can generate significant interest, and we’re counting on that starting with this first initiative. Marketing activities will need to be ongoing, and we also expect the return of some artists to the network, as well as the onboarding of new names who can bring their own networks, strengthening the ecosystem.
Good to see people trying… The DeFi angle and ability to tokenize contracts is far more appealing given the recent push on RWA, etc.
An application like Spore Studio has immense potential to evolve in many directions. Being open-source, it could open doors to forks and new attempts by other groups. However, RWA (Real-World Assets) was the primary motivation that sparked the initial action around this platform. The future will determine its path.
ya but you have to understand that’s all good and all but you should have been actively returning the funds to the foundation in which to this day you haven’t returned anything. to say “put the show on hold” it’s on its way to going on 2 years since you were funded. I would at least think before you were intending to start another project you would at least return the CKB from the failed project before moving forward. Everyone appreciates your efforts for CKB but this doesn’t give you some immunity to acting fiscally irresponsible
Hi @NightLantern ,Thank you for your comment once more. While I appreciate your concern, I respectfully disagree with the perception of fiscal irresponsibility. As previously communicated, the funds were fully invested in the project as planned. The “show” did not progress further (yet) due to insufficient participation, which was beyond our control, not a lack of engagement on our part. It’s worth noting that any investment carries inherent risks and we made plenty of efforts to meet the project’s goals.
I deeply value the CKB community’s support and remain committed to contributing to its growth, thank you once again for your valuable insights mate.
Yeah mate, I get you. It’s not that I don’t understand your point of view, because I think most longterm CKB holders are well and truly on the conservative side of crypto.
And I get that I’m definitely on the looser end of the scale, but I’m still on the same side.
I just think that this DAO is so far on your side that it is almost totally unworkable and to be honest it has been a failure up until this point.
I can’t speak for Terry or Jan and the others that put this thing together and maybe I’m completely wrong, but I’m pretty sure that when they first sent that 200 and something million CKB to the DAO, they would have loved to see it gone within the year.
And almost 3 years later we’re sitting on 80% of it and no one is even attempting to put forward decent proposals.
When you haven’t even got scammers and bounty hunters trying to get some free money, then you know things are completely broken.
This is a consideration, but in the scheme of things these low funding amounts aren’t having an impact even if they’re dumped on market.
Yep, I’m all for it, 100%…I don’t see their proposals though.
This isn’t what I’m asking for, not even close.
There’s a massive difference between ‘funding everything under the sun’ and taking a chance on solid proposals that are actually building something worthwhile on CKB.
We weed out the rubbish as we go.
But mate, when you’ve got Jan, who knows the state of CKB better than anyone, literally telling us to spend some money and start taking some risks (obviously within reason) and you’re still going to dig in against it, then nothing I say can possibly change your mind either.
okay well just to be clear, when you say “the show did not progress further yet”— the assumption is you still intend on working on it. if thats the case i would continue to work towards that project and not start a new one. Or you could sell the equipment etc and return the CKB to the foundation and then attempt this new project. It pains me to say your responses on why the other project didn’t work comes across as excuses, you take almost zero accountability or maybe you were in over your head and didn’t have the experience to know all the logistics involved in making a project like that successful… and this is exactly why i would be concerned about funding you for this even larger endeavour. But really the fiscally irresponsible part is for you too not have returned the funds at all and are now actively looking for over 5x the amount for an intirely new venture
Thank you l for your comment and honesty. I understand your concerns and take your feedback seriously. it helps me improve.
Thanks for the reply. But you are lacking any real detail in any of your replies…
Re competitors, i wasn’t referring to CKB … who else in the cryto market does this?? What do they do? How does you’re offering compete… What size of a market is it, how many competitors, if all your product does is do the same as others on CKB… you are wasting your time
If you havent done this sort of comparison already you are wasting your time… and the funding money…
Is this digital art the right the right focus…??
Marketing… doesn’t feel like you have thought about this in any way, no plan demonstrated, it’s all to High level…
Sorry this may seem harse but you need todo a lot more in your plan for this. You wouldn’t get past a first stage in the commercial world…
