CKB Off-Chain Hanoi Event Overview

CKB Off-Chain Hanoi Event Overview

On 8 October 2026, Nervos Community Catalyst, in collaboration with BPSClub and TexLabs, held CKB Off-Chain Hanoi at Nguyen Trai University’s Faculty of Information Technology & Digital Transformation.

The event brought together CKB developers, other software developers, faculty members and university students. It was an important milestone for the CKBuilders programme in Vietnam, giving local builders an opportunity to present their work, share their experiences and meet one another in person.

Opening the Event

The event was opened by Mr. Trinh Chung, a lecturer at the Faculty of Information Technology & Digital Transformation. He spoke about the importance of blockchain technology and its growing relevance to students and developers.

We were encouraged by his openness towards blockchain and his willingness to provide students with exposure to emerging areas of technology. Our conversations with him also provided a useful starting point for exploring how students and the wider university community might participate in future developer activities.

From CKB Fundamentals to Practical Development

@longdevbf delivered the first community presentation, introducing CKB and helping the audience understand some of its core architecture, unique characteristics and the opportunities it offers developers.

@Tung_Pham followed with a broad explanation blockchain concepts before discussing CKB, quantum resistance and Quantum Purse. This provided useful context for attendees with different levels of familiarity with blockchain technology while also demonstrating how CKB’s flexibility translates to embracing quantum-resistant cryptography and a live, audited PQC wallet.

James then presented his hardware-related work involving the integration of Trezor hardware wallets with Quantum Purse. His session demonstrated how CKB’s cryptographic flexibility can be explored through practical development combining hardware and software.

Following James, @RetricSu from CKB DevRel provided an introduction to CKB development via a remote presentation. His session helped connect the earlier discussion about CKB with the practical foundations developers need to begin building.

Opportunities for Developers

As there was a substantial student contingent in the audience, my presentation focused on the importance of remaining open-minded as technology evolves. Students entering the industry today are likely to encounter technologies and applications that are still at an early stage (or may not yet exist at all), and blockchain is worth paying attention to as it continues to mature over the next decade. I also introduced the opportunities available through Nervos Community Catalyst, including CKBuilders, Build on CKB, hackathons and other contribution pathways within the CKB ecosystem.

Ngoc continued the programme by sharing his reflections on CKB and discussing his experience of building a ToyTrade marketplace. His presentation gave the audience insight into the development process from the perspective of someone actively learning about CKB and applying that knowledge to a working project.

@timnguyen concluded the presentations by discussing his experience of building CKB Lab and FiberGate, a project developed for the recent Fiber Network hackathon. His session showed how participation in CKBuilders and ecosystem hackathons can lead to the development of more substantial tools and projects over time.

A special note of thanks must be made to @zz_tovarishch who adapted his CKB mBabel tool to support en <> vn live on-screen translations during proceedings, as well as providing access to Volcengine services. This proved to be an invaluable resource for attendees, ensuring they were well-positioned to engage fully with the content delivered.

A Growing Builder Community in Vietnam

Across the programme, the speakers covered blockchain fundamentals, CKB development, post-quantum cryptography, hardware integration, application development and Fiber Network. This range reflected the different technical interests already developing within the Vietnamese CKBuilder community.

CKBuilder participants from Vietnam now numbers more than 15, with interest continuing to grow largely through personal recommendations and word of mouth. Although CKB community events have previously taken place in the country, CKB Off-Chain Hanoi was the first centred on CKBuilders and the first opportunity for many of them to meet and present their work in person. Their prominent role in the programme reflected the range of knowledge and projects already emerging from the Vietnamese community. Vietnam remains an important focal point because of its strong developer base, wider interest in blockchain and the experience many local developers already have with UTXO-based systems.

Reflections and Next Steps

CKB Off-Chain Hanoi was a strong first step for the CKBuilder community in Vietnam. It brought together developers, students and faculty members, created space for practical knowledge to be shared and gave local builders an opportunity to present their work.

We will continue exploring events and other activities in Vietnam, with a view to strengthening relationships between existing CKB builders while welcoming other regional developers who share our interests. The interest shown by the university faculty also creates opportunities for further engagement with students and other developers.

The aim is to build upon the connections established at this event and support a community in which local builders increasingly organise activities, exchange knowledge and help introduce other developers to CKB.

Great to see the CKB builder community growing in Vietnam. Bringing developers and students together to share ideas and showcase real projects is how a strong ecosystem is built. Looking forward to seeing what these connections lead to!
