CKB Eco Fund | Spark program Announcement for Project AirFi

The CKB Eco Fund Spark program is dedicated to supporting community developers and innovative projects. After a detailed and constructive review process, we are pleased to announce that the funding application for AirFi has been approved.

Project and Developer Information

  • Project Name: AirFi
  • Developer/Team: Build Union
    • Team Leader: EmmanuelEclipseLZ(@emmanueleclipse_ on Discord, LinkedIn
  • Project Description: AirFi is a CKB payment channel application focused on the Guest-side experience. It integrates Perun payment channel logic to build the core flow from payment to access, while minimizing Host-side functionality to validate payment channel technology in real-world scenarios. The project will develop a testnet MVP and collect structured user feedback from target communities in Southeast Asia through a hybrid validation and reporting mechanism to provide valuable insights for subsequent iterations.

Spark program funding decision and rationale

The Spark program committee evaluated the project proposal and decided to provide funding of $1,200 USD, equivalent to 50% CKB + 50% USDI (at 0.0027 CKB/USD, totaling 222,223 CKB + 600 USDI ). The project is expected to deliver core deliverables in approximately 8 weeks.

The main reasons for this decision are as follows:

  1. Ecosystem value and innovation: The project’s clear design goals and thoroughness of content are impressive. It explores payment channel technology, which has broad market prospects, and will bring significant value to the CKB ecosystem.
  2. Constructive collaboration: By reducing Host-side content, focusing on the Guest-side experience, and clearly outlining the use of market funds, the applicant demonstrated the ability to seriously respond to committee feedback and efficiently adjust execution.
  3. Developer capability and commitment: The applicant has just completed the Tracking Platform for Nervos project under the Spark program, and we believe they can do even better on this project.

Funds management and project transparency

To ensure the openness and transparency of the Spark Program, all grant funds will be managed and disbursed through a dedicated multi-signature wallet.

  • Project multi-signature wallet address: ckb1qrg6n7rh4mfltcruh8zjkcdtjmgx7fg2u6yre3ls5fprmvyhdlyzzqtp8mhyct5yv85kr2y2u8elym658e4ea4qfvc2gr
  • Multi-sig Mechanism and Stewards: This wallet uses a 2-of-3 multisignature mechanism, jointly managed by the following project committee members to ensure fund security and proper use: Devrel Lead Hanssen, Research Lead 舟舟, Devrel member Yixiu.
  • Transparency of Disbursements: The initial seed funding of 44,445 CKB + 120 USDI (20% of the total) and all subsequent payments will be publicly announced with transaction hashes on the Spark Dashboard, the Nervos Talk forum, and relevant Discord community channels.
  • Communication channels: The project’s application thread within the Spark Program channel on the Nervos Network Discord will serve as one of the primary public channels for communication and progress updates.

Project Support and Outlook

The Spark Program will provide weekly syncs, technical guidance, post-completion promotion, and assistance with future funding applications.

We look forward to AirFi’s MVP delivering a smooth payment channel experience on the Guest side and collecting valuable user feedback through a hybrid verification and reporting mechanism to lay the groundwork for subsequent iterations and potential expansion into more Web5 scenarios. We believe its exploration will bring a valuable open-source example to the CKB ecosystem and showcase the unique appeal of the CKB native protocol.
