Personally, I wonder whether this is really the right time for the pool operator! While they state that the decision to shut down was made after careful consideration, I doubt that the current global decline in total hashrate was taken into account. The relative proportion of miners working on ViaBTC is likely to be significantly higher at this time than it was in the past, when the hashrate was five to six times higher than it is today. Was consideration given to informing the operators of this?
