The App5Labs CKB Explorer announcement and basic Public Relations skills

Just referencing the tweet made by @APP5Labs and then reposted by the official Nervos account.

The Tweet

I think this was an extremely badly put together message and is something that just shouldn’t be happening at this point.

There’s a big difference between being deceptive and straight up lying, which I would never agree with, to just wording things in a way that puts a positive spin on something that may not be a positive thing.

I was about 4 words in and already got the feeling that it wasn’t going to be a positive post.

But the worst part is, I’m not even sure if it is bad news or not, or how bad the news is, it was just such a negative vibe about the whole thing.

And I wasn’t the only one who got the same feeling, because I scrolled to the comments and saw these:

But then stuck somewhere at the bottom is this part:

“The results achieved by the APP5 CKB explorer during the testing phase have completed their established verification goals and have been successfully applied to the optimization of the original explorer.”

Oh, so it’s not that bad really? (maybe it is, who would even know) But maybe it might be a good idea to put this part at the top?

“Following a successful testing phase of the new CKB Explorer, App5labs, together with the Nervos team, have decided to add the optimized features to the existing, stable version of the original explorer.

After careful discussions, this was decided by both groups to clearly be the best way forward as it achieves all of the established verification goals of the new explorer while maintaining the stability and familiarity of the long running CKB Explorer.”

And then follow on with the links etc.

It’s really not that hard guys.

the old explorer will be maintained as is, your feeling is justified, thought there was another day or so from the foundation end before this went out, a little unprepared today.

It’s the shut down of a project the App5 team did a lot of work on because ultimately, it doesn’t make economic sense to continue. Not great news but also very good news that explorer development is now extremely streamlined due to AI and operation costs should come down as a result as well.

Hi Matt, yeah, I wasn’t even too concerned about the actual decision, I’m sure these things are very carefully thought through and are made for certain reasons.

But the messaging was just so bad and there needs to be some sort of process before these announcements are made public.

honestly I read it and it made enough sense (I did get some notions of feelings you got) though I see now my view was biased by my insights into reality of things. Communications will improve.

Appreciate you highlighting it.

Yeah, I fully understand that when you have more info and understanding of what’s going on then you’re going to see things differently, so this isn’t a shot at you, or anyone personally.

But when I went back to Twitter to copy the image of the comments, the first tweet that was on my feed was this one. I know this guy is just a fudder now, but we really just loaded his guns with ammo for him on this one.

I agree, the message was not framed very well.

The more reassuring part should have been made clear upfront instead of being left for later, because the opening gave the impression of bad news and made misinterpretation easy.

What’s telling, though, is how quickly some of the usual anti-Nervos voices jumped straight to the most negative possible reading, as if they had been waiting for an excuse to do exactly that.

If I wanted to play the same game, I could just grab BloFin’s very recent announcement about delisting the $CKB-USDT perpetual and act like it means the sky is falling for Nervos. Obviously, that would be ridiculous.

The broader reality is that there is a huge amount of work being done across Nervos right now. From where I stand, the project looks more active and more forward-looking than it has in a long time.
