Mining Disrupt 2025 brought together US-based Bitcoin mining and affiliated industries, from ASIC manufacturers, service providers, miners, investors and enthusiasts.
Situated in Irving, Texas, it was one of the biggest mining-centric conferences of the year, hosting interesting debates and presentations about the future of Bitcoin and mining, a sizeable exhibition full of booths, and plentiful networking opportunities at scheduled events and parties.
This report serves to summarise what was very much an all-round community effort with much to take away and reflect on.
CKB meetups return to USA
This year, after some deliberation, the CKB community decided to descend upon Mining Disrupt to participate in the first CKB Off-Chain meetup on US soil, and the first CKB community meetup in the region for many years.
Aside from meeting with other longstanding community members, the event presented an opportunity for community members to network with conference attendees and share the message of CKB in an organic way. Central to this message was CKB’s flexibility as demonstrated by its ability to adopt quantum resistant cryptography.
Furthermore, as a proof of work mined coin, increasing visibility of CKB among miners seems like a good strategy to:
- Grow the CKB mining community in a region where ASIC mining is popular
- Make inroads in the US market and improve the appeal to businesses and institutions
Supported by the Nervos Community Catalyst and the Nervos Foundation, the CKB community had a booth presence, involvement in on-stage discussions, creative engagement strategies, and a CKB happy hour side event. This provided many ways for conference attendees to notice CKB and created many new relationships and potential collaborations that can now be explored.
Summary of activities:
- Booth hosted to showcase CKB’s quantum-safety. Interest in the booth on the first day of the conference was especially high as 6Figs was conducting recorded interviews at the booth which drew wider interest from attendees. The booth was manned by community members in rotation throughout the duration of the conference.
- CKB Off-Chain happy hour event. This was an opportunity for the community and conference attendees to network after the exhibition. Whilst the attendance for this was modest, some important new connections were made which could benefit the US presence of CKB.
- Networking and marketing strategies. CKB community members attended conference pre- and after-parties, as well as restricted VIP areas, to create a list of contacts that we are now exploring for future collaborations. Some community members stole the show by dressing up as dinosaurs and battling Bitcoin Renegade dressed as a king. Whilst this may seem unconventional, it was a successful strategy which drew the attention and interest of everyone at the conference.
Over the coming weeks, content will be produced by 6Figs which rounds up the conference in video format. Although I did not attend, it’s evident that CKB’s presence at this conference started new conversations, created new opportunities, and demonstrated the power of community. Lastly, it generated fresh momentum which I hope will carry forward to more US-based events and meetups in 2026.
