Inconsistencies in the Neuron wallet download

On the social media platform Reddit, someone commented as follows:

This whole endeavor seems fraught with peril.

So I went through the process and found inconsistencies right away.

  1. nervos.org/wallets redirects to magickbase.com On their main page immediately greeted by a large flickering banner and slogans. Although it is written on nervos.org that Neuron is from Nervos Foundation. Screenshots:

There you would have to scroll down a few times and then remember that you have to click on Neuron to get this wallet.

  1. On https://neuron.magickbase.com/ you are warned before the download:

The current CKB full node data size is approximately 117.03G and continues to grow over time.

These are all unnecessary hurdles and confusion for newcomers. A hard disk check could determine after installation whether at least 150G are free and still display a recommendation for the light client after installation if there is less than 250G free memory. Or display this warning or a recommendation without a check. But I find it very off-putting to confront the user with this hurdle before installation.

If the wallet has to be downloaded from an external site, this should be explicitly described on Nervos.org, but I think it should come directly from there at best.

in my opinion the download link should point to github

I’m not sure why you got taken to the Magickbase homepage, the download link on Nervos.org takes me directly to the Neuron page on the Magickbase site.

All seems pretty smooth and straightforward to me, the only thing I think could be added is something about Magickbase in the description of the Nervos page, like “Neuron Wallet is a CKB wallet produced by the Nervos Foundation and now developed and maintained by Magickbase”

But I have to disagree with Matt, (second time in a week, sorry man :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:) downloading anything directly from Github can be a bit overwhelming for lots of people who are just used to download buttons. The current design on Magickbase is perfect imo.

But Neuron in general is always going to be a little bit complex, there’s not much that can be done about that. The Light Client has made a huge difference, but still, for most basic users of CKB, there are some more ‘normal’ options now.

The link at Nervos.org led me directly to the Neuron-Magickbase site. I just wanted to check the main page to see where I ended up. I didn’t know that I wanted anything from Magickbase at all.

Ahh ok, I get you, I thought you were saying you ended up on the homepage which I agree would have been really confusing.
