A related development worth sharing: Silent Payments (BIP352) is already usable on Bitcoin mainnet. Sparrow 2.5.0 added receiving support, including support for air-gapped hardware wallet signers. It works at the wallet layer using existing Taproot outputs, without requiring a new consensus upgrade.
It follows the same general idea as stealth addresses: publish one reusable payment code, while each payment goes to a different on-chain address. The interesting difference is that Silent Payments derives the shared secret from transaction input keys, avoiding extra on-chain notification data. The tradeoff is more scanning work for the recipient.
This could be a useful reference for Obscell’s wallet and scanning design. It could also pair well with naming protocols like .cell: users could share a name such as alice.cell while each payment goes to a fresh on-chain address, much like the BIP353 payment names emonstrated at silentpayments.net.
