Actually the DAO-as-an-intermediate schema can be extended to other things that’s good for the network but difficult to be baked into consensus

@janx I fully agree!! On a somewhat related note, I was wondering, in your opinion what’s the way to go about long-term Witness data availability?

Issues with relying strictly on witnesses for long-term data availability:

1. No incentive model: no native fees or rent to reward nodes for storing witness history.
2. Unbounded growth: post-quantum signatures and richer proofs will steadily increase witness size.
3. Resource strain and DoS risk: large or abusive payloads in witnesses can overload nodes and networks.
4. Future retention uncertainty: though pruning isn’t used today, nodes may drop old witnesses later to manage state growth.
5. Inconsistent access: once pruning exists, only archive nodes will retain full witness history.
6. Added operational complexity: guaranteeing availability will require parallel archive networks or paid gateways.

Should it be handled in a similar way?
